02/05/26 – Omnipresent God

Eva,

Yesterday, I felt a little peaceful after I started writing this journal. As always, I slept late at around 03.00. I had to attend a function at a convent close to the famous St. Mary’s Syro-Malabar Church, Koratty in the morning. My dad had told me to get up early tomorrow and be ready by 08.00 by the time he returns from church. I got up at around 07.30 tired and was ready by 08.30 half-minded. We had to travel around 30 kilometres from my home and I made a decision to drive without pushing the gas pedal too much so as to see how much mileage I could get on my nine year old Nissan Micra CVT Petrol Automatic! To my surprise, it returns around 18.4 kmpl which was too much! I understood that my rash driving is the sole reason I get around 10 kmpl mileage! I took a photo and posted it as a story of course! 😂

We reached the event a bit earlier than expected, I did not attend the function, instead I went to the church instead of the convent. I went inside the church and sat peacefully there for a while. My mind was going through a lot of things lately. I could not get into a fruitful conversation with God, still I felt a lot better sitting there. The usual set of questions about my life and the lack of clarity and guidance was still going through my mind. I decided to walk around the church premises a bit and later went to the adoration chapel where I read the scriptures. After spending some time at the church, I returned back to the convent where we were served breakfast. I had breakfast and shortly me and my dad decided to return back home. We had a family friend who was along with us in our car. He talked a lot about stances of political parties in Kerala along with some of the things he shared about Christian faith, the latter brought enlightenment to me.

I felt like his faith and beliefs were a lot more aligned with me, we talked for like 45 minutes sitting in the car at the Aluva bus stop! Before he was leaving to his home, he told two things to keep in mind, as a Christian.

First, not to worship the statues of saints or God. Some christians have a tendency to touch and kiss the statues of saints or God. I too disagree to this idea since our God does not inhibit in objects. Christian faith believes in the ideology that God is omni-present. He does not need an object to signify his presence. We use statues or certain objects to visualise presence but the object as such does not contain any power or in incapable of doing godly things. Worshipping the object is against Christian faith whether it be a rosary or a cross!

Second, be a good human. Find ways to do good deeds without expecting anything in return. God works in mysterious ways. Trust his timing, he always has a plan. ✨

So, the key takeaway for today was to keep these two things in mind. Hopefully my faith will be made stronger!

Praise be to God!
